Sweet Treat

Are you looking for the perfect paper collection to scrap those sweet treat photos or how about all those Easter photos that you recently took?  Well look no further – the Abode a la Mode Collection is absolutely perfect for scrapping photos of your young ones enjoying some sweet treats.  In my case, my daughter always seems to have a lollipop, a popsicle or some other treat in her hand!

TaDa Creative Studios supplies: Abode a  la Mode Collection, Goody Two Shoes Collection

Other supplies: Fiskars Scallop Sentiment border punch, Fiskars Bracket border punch, EK Success Circle Large Edger border punch, Vibrance ink, Carolee’s Creations mini alphabet stickers, Doodlebug alphabet stickers, edge distresser

My layout involves a lot of layering and distressing.  To achieve a very weathered, distressed look, go over the edges of your paper with an edge distress tool (or scissors) multiple times.  The more you go over an area, the more the paper will soften and fray.  You may tear into your paper, but don’t let that deter you from distressing!  Simply rip that piece out of your paper (kind of like a V shape).  Then gently distress the edge and adhere a piece of paper under it.  I chose to do this in a few places, because I had a lot of browns on my layout and I wanted to bring in some lighter tones so that was a perfect way to accomplish that.  You can also ink the edges of your distressing for an even more weathered look.

I opted to make a couple of lollipop flowers for embellishments – these are easy and pretty fast to do! Simply cut a strip of pattern paper and fold accordion style the entire length of it (in my case, my strip was about .5 inches wide x 12 inches long).  Glue the ends together so that you form a circle and then glue it onto a circular piece of cardstock on the underside and add a brad, jewel or embellishment to the top of your flower.

My journaling is printed onto a Goody Two Shoes Snippet.  To do this, figure out the dimensions of the area you need to print in.  Then open your photo editing or word processing program and make an area that size (in my case, I needed to make it oval).  Type in your text, and then print it onto a piece of white paper.  Then, place the tag over your printed text to ensure it will fit on your tag. Finally, adhere your tag to the piece of white paper and run it through the printer again – tada!  An easy to make tag with computer-generated journaling!

We’d love to see your creations using the Abode a la Mode Collection!  The colours and treats in this collection are perfect for Easter! Drop by and show us how you scrapped your Easter photos with them!  Or why not scrap some Spring pages?  This collection has the perfect colours for Spring, along with some ultra cute paper strips with a Spring feel to them!  Or maybe you’d like to use this collection in a unique way – we’d love to see what you can do with it!

Thanks for coming by today!
